Steps to align human resources to the job roles
1. Transformation and target operating model new capability
requirements:
a. Create a database of all new capabilities required to accomplish
strategic objectives
b. Create job roles to deliver the outcomes required by programmes
and assign the details for the job roles
c. Create job specifications; clarify the location of the job role, capa-
bility and skills required
2. Existing baseline of job roles and capabilities available:
a. Create a database of all existing job roles within departments of
the organisation globally
b. Map the job role capability and skill requirements
c. Acquire employee end year ratings and feedback from the managers
d. Add employees’ education and interests
e. Add employee short- and long-term career goals
f. Add employees’ preferred location to work from
3. Match the new job roles to existing internally available skills:
a. Match the internal human resources with newly created job roles
based on location preference, skills, resource past performance
and career goals
b. Interview the internal resources again depending on the job roles
and department
c. Create an HR platform for the employees to apply for any newly
available job roles and their preference
d. Establish capability uplift initiatives to uplift the employee’s skills
which have been selected for new job roles
e. Capability uplift and Centre of Excellence (CoE) programmes are
much wider than resource realignment as part of transformation.
These programmes and initiatives are required to continuously
uplift the employees to be productive with the adoption of innova-
tive and disrupting technologies.

Capability uplift
As the name stands, capability uplift is a process to improve the capabil-
ity of an employee to be more productive and fit for the job role. It also
improves productivity and retainment of the employee. There are multiple
benefits of this initiative for employees and the employer.
